Building on the essential principle of hard work, as an unequal eye for discovering and cultivating amazingly talented individuals Urban FLAVA is a classic fusion of talent, teamwork and tenacity along with expertise in the entertainment industry.

The company is partnering with the non-profit Vanguard Community Corporation to launch a one day workshop from “Motown to Show Town”, how to get PAID in Detroit’s newest industry, Saturday August 1, 2009.

Through the partnership with Vanguard, 25 scholarships to the event will be awarded to second offenders going through a state funded rehabilitation program.

From the signature sound of Motown to its majestic riverfront Detroit has successfully carved out a nitch as one of the country most unique and exciting urban cities. It is a town whose richness is found in its people. The panel will expose its participants to industry veterans and urban FLAVA executives who are committed to supplying the most talented individuals as well as creating the most thoroughly trained and desirable support staff in the metropolitan Detroit area bar none.

Participating on the panel is Kern Brantley, former music director for Mary J. Blidge, Beyonce, Brandy to name a few, and currently the music director for Ne-Yo.

Stage play producer and music executive Marvie Wright, former president of Tommy Boy Gospel and Word Records and producer of hit stage play, “If These Hips Could Talk”..

Notable Director/Writer Dorothea Sharon who has written and produced her own productions such as “Strong Women Keep Coming” and “I Need My Music Now”, along with directing and one of the contributing writers of the hit stage play, “If These Hips Could Talk”. Dorothea was also the production manager for the film “Brewster Projects”.

Keith Jackson, set designer for many productions such as “Love On Layaway”, “If These Hips Could Talk”, “Talk Show Live” and his own stage play that he produced and wrote, “Tall, Dark, and Handsome”. He has also designed many Detroit’s Restaurants such as “Sweet Georgia Brown”, “Steve’s Soul Food’, “Alteros”, and the spa “Manhood/Green Room”.

Derek Denham who stared in the film “Corrupted Minds’ that was released by Universal Films, he was the lead character in “Edmund” written by David Mamet, he starred in the stage play “Fences” written by August Wilson, and is the co- owner of a sports training and recruiting company “Playmakers U”.

Lon Statton who was the cinematography for films, “Standing In The Shadows Of Motown”, and “The Rain”

Gerald McBride, who has twenty five years as a radio host in Detroit and the owner of a voice over talent business which produces voice overs and television/radio commercials for major productions across the nation.

Robert Dyke, director of the films Inalienable, Time Quest, and Moon Trap. He was was the AD for the films Like goes on, Corrupted Minds, One half Gone, and Stardust.
Collectively this group of industry elite has worked directly with Teshenia Arnold, Billy Dee Williams, Robin Givens, Samual Jackson, Rodney Jerkins, P. Diddy, Little Wayne, Kirk Franklin, R. Kelly, Winans Family and The Clark Sisters, to name a few.

Urban FLAVA is a virtual one stop entertainment shop providing the most elite and film industry services in the country. Comprised of a team of veteran industry professionals, Urban FLAVA simply put is the best in the business. It has swiftly become the agency of choice in the areas of talent management, artist development, music production, and technical support training.
